You can not believe the utter joy I feel for having finally completed two weeks worth of my Project Life. I was so very slow getting started because as you know, I was overwhelmed for awhile due to an overload of inspiration and instead of it kicking my motivation and creativity into gear, it instead left me not even knowing where to begin. However, this week I set time aside over a 3 day period and made myself focus and get it done. <br />
<br />
One area that I do not have a problem and haven't fallen behind on (so far) is printing and inserting my pictures. It has now become a habit for me that each Sunday morning, I get up and send my photos off to Walgreens to the one hour photo. My husband and I then pick them up later that day while we are out grocery shopping and as soon as I get the groceries put away, I start cropping, rounding corners and inserting my photos. All I lack each week then is added any memorablia, journaling and creative little accents.<br />
<br />
I want to point out too that I am really trying to keep my Project Life as simplistic as possible when it comes to work that I find tedious. I do not enjoy editing photos, so.....none of my photos are edited to improve color, lighting, etc. (as of right now anyway, I will let you know if I ever do edit them in the future). They are snapped with my very cheap, old point & shoot Sony Cybershot camera. I will tell you that I honestly can not stand my camera. I want to throw it out the front door sometimes. LOL I upload them to my camera and send them off to be printed....that's it! When I decided to do Project Life, I knew I wanted to get back into paper scrapping so I am really enjoying spending the bulk of my time working more on my creative additions to my pages. So, I apologize in advance if some of my pictures are not so snazzy, especially the ones where I photograph my pages! The ones you see here in this post are my 2nd attempt! I finally decided they would have to be good enough. Hopefully, I will get better at photographing these shiny page protectors as the year goes on OR my amazing hubby will buy me a better camera. I am hoping for the latter. ;)<br />
<br />
Now, onto my pages! Woohoo! OH, there are just a few little things I still need to do to these pages and that is add a few tiny little staples here and there when my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher comes in next week. But, that little tiny adjustment was not enough to keep me from sharing these.<br />

I hope everyone has had a fantastic week and is looking forward to their weekend....tomorrow is Friday. Woohoo! I guess I am looking forward to our weekend although, we have a motorcycle club meeting on Saturday and then a Super Bowl party to go to on Sunday so....if I am being honest, not so much. I am such a home body that I actually prefer a nice, relaxing weekend with no plans. Especially when I am still recovering from being sick for thirteen days! It is a super long story so I will try to keep it short and just hit the major details. I woke up on the 20th of January with major pain in my right ear and a feeling like I was underwater where I could hear my breathing and my voice in my own ear. I was first told a Eusthacian Tube Dysfunction when I went to the minor emergency clinic and put on Mucinex D, Flonase and Zyrtec. Four days later I still wasn't feeling well so I went to my primary care doctor and was told I had a slight redness in my ear and they had me take Prednisone and an antibiotic for five days while continuing the other medications. Well, as of Monday I still wasn't feeling well. I went to see an ENT and he believes it is most likely a jaw issue since there was no fluid in my ear, no drainage, etc. He put me on an anti-inflammatory and a pain medication. Finally, some relief has started to set in. I feel a little bit better each day in regards to the pain and the feeling in my ear as though I am underwater or in a barrel is slightly less. I am still very nauseated and dizzy however. I guess my next step is a visit to a dentist to try and figure out if this is in fact something associated with my jaw. I am worried that the medications are simply masking the issue and I am not really getting well. However, I am too happy with feeling better to stop taking the medications to find out! I just keep going to bed each night and waking up the next morning hoping that it will be the day I get to say I am back to being me!<br />
<br />
I wanted to just share a few layouts with you today that I have done since I last blogged about my layouts. I want to make sure and draw your attention though to the kit that I used for this first layout, Rejoice. The kit is a three designer collaboration that can be purchased this month only at My Scrapbook Art's magazine, <a href="http://www.myscrapbookart.com/msamagazine/" target="_blank">Home Is Where The Art Is</a> for only $1.99. The collaboration kit is called <a href="http://www.myscrapbookart.com/msamagazine/?p=3946" target="_blank">A New Day</a> and was created by Secret Stash, Ziggle Designs and MLE Card.<br />
<br />
Here is what this amazing kit looks like:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.myscrapbookart.com/msamagazine/?p=3946" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.myscrapbookart.com/msamagazine/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/anewday_preview.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After February, the kit will go into the designer's stores and will be sold at regular price which will probably be triple that price! Here is the layout I did using <a href="http://www.myscrapbookart.com/msamagazine/?p=3946" target="_blank">A New Day</a>:</div><br />

These are my first two layouts for 2012. I went 3 weeks with no scrapping and I was in need of a fix! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1514043&title=fight-everyday&cat=500" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/data/500/secretstash_resolutions_web.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>Fight Everyday</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://scraporchard.com/market/New-Attitude-Digital-Scrapbook.html" target="_blank">New Attitude</a> - a collaboration by Secret Stash Designs and Litabells</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.mscraps.com/shop/product.php?productid=4538&cat=90&page=1" target="_blank">Solos Part 5</a> by Busy Bee Designs</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1514134&title=first-snow-day&cat=500" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/data/500/chelle_winter_web.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><b>First Snow Day</b></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://scraporchard.com/market/Winter-Thrills-Digital-Scrapbook-Bundle.html" target="_blank">Winter Thrills Bundle</a> by Chelle's Creations</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Shenanigans (coming soon) by Jeanye Labaya Designs</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have been drooling over Chelle's Creations products for months now. She is just an amazingly creative and talented designer and let's face it - I am a big sucker for felt ellies. So, to say I was super stoked to get a guest spot on her team for January and February is a HUGE understatement! Here are some of my favorite kits/products of hers that you will be seeing me use soon for layouts. All of the images are linked in case you want to check them out AND If you haven't checked out her stuff, here is link to her store: <br />
<a href="http://scraporchard.com/market/Chelle-s-Creations/" target="_blank">http://scraporchard.com/market/Chelle-s-Creations/</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://scraporchard.com/market/Spic-n-Span-digital-scrapbook-Bundle.html" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://scraporchard.com/market/images/P/cc_spicnspan_bundle.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">I despise cleaning and laundry, really. However, I am in love with this bundle. Although, it just deters me further from chores cuz all I want to do is scrap a page about how much I don't want to clean! LOL</span> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://scraporchard.com/market/Food-4-Fans-Digital-Scrapbook-Kit.html" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://scraporchard.com/market/images/P/cc_food4fans_kit.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So many layouts I want to do with this. I LOVE food. I am trying to eat healthier the last few months so I may do a layout about the foods I am not eating (ok, well maybe just a little here and there) or I will do it about these foods that I can't live without - like nachos!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://scraporchard.com/market/Under-Construction-Digital-Scrapbook.html" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://scraporchard.com/market/images/P/cc_underconstruction_preview_2post.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is just tooo stinking cute and I can't wait to do a page using this to showcase Laddy's new tractor and tools that his Pops bought him for Christmas!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://scraporchard.com/market/E-I-E-I-O-Bundle-Digital-Scrapbook.html" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://scraporchard.com/market/images/P/cc_eieio_bundle_2_post.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Okay, I will be honest here. I have NO idea what pictures I am going to use for this kit BUT....I have loved it since the day Chelle released it and I have to use it. Hmmm....maybe a page about the funny farm I call "home"? LOL</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://scraporchard.com/market/Black-Belt-Digital-Scrapbook-Kit.html" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://scraporchard.com/market/images/P/cc_blackbelt_preview.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This one requires digging in the old photos and doing some scanning. Jonathan and all 3 girls took Tae Kwon Do for 2 years back in 2003 and 2004. I have the most adorable portrait that we had done of all 4 of them that HAS to be scrapped. Megan was only 6 years old! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Before I say bye for now, I wanted to give a quick update about my Project Life. I have worked on it a bit here and there trying to find my motivation. Honestly, I wound up getting pretty discouraged before even starting due to all of the creative inspiration, products and such that I saw popping up all over the internet. I started putting so much pressure on myself to try and come up with something so original and creative that I wound up not doing anything because I couldn't just be simple. I had actually scribbled my hand written saying for the week on a journal card and stuck it on my fridge but found myself looking at it saying "My handwriting is so ugly, I hate this, I need to redo it or do it digitally so it is pretty." </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I mean, the whole reason I was intrigued by and decided to do Project Life is because it seemed simple enough that even I would have time to do it. I belong to a group of ladies that shares inspiration and encourages each other and I was even feeling like I couldn't be honest in there and just say "I'm overwhelmed" because I already felt like I was failing. This is a great group of ladies, some of them dear friends that I have had for years in the digital community and the goal of this group really is to inspire. It was all pressure I was putting on myself (I have this habit a lot in life and I consider it a curse from my father, he is a major workaholic and over achiever). ;) I was feeling like I had to impress them or that I had to have all original ideas and that I shouldn't "copy" theirs. Then, one of the girls posted a link to a blog that discussed the very issue I was having. It really flipped the switch back for me and put things in perspective again. I remembered that I am doing this for me and my family - for my kids, for my grandson. Not for anyone else and definitely not to impress people. I am doing it to record our story and my family does not care how our album looks as compared to others. They want to see our lives recorded and reflect on our memories. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So, that very evening while watching a movie with Megan, I started my week 1. It is still in the works and has lots of slots to be filled but, it is a work in progress and I am glad to report that I did not take that scribbled saying down off of my fridge and it will go in my album when this week ends. While pondering whether to redo it or not, I remembered a note that my mother gave to me after my grandmother passed away in 2003. It is a handwritten note from about 18 years ago, a corner torn off of a paper that simply says "Jeanye and kids were here today" (she used to scribble little notes like this on random bits of paper and they would just pile up on her desk. In years prior, she kept spirals and would record the day's activities and happenings in it in chronological order). I remembered what a treasure that seemingly insignificant piece of paper is to me. Why? Because she held it and those simple words flowed from her head to her hands and it was a memory she felt was worth recording. Now it has become a part of who I am, where I come from and my history. This is what I want my family to feel when they look through our albums. This is why I scrapbook.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>NeeNeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09269290548661464299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892532636832950780.post-2616788535778769642011-12-28T04:28:00.000-08:002011-12-28T04:39:08.536-08:00An Introduction To Project Life - 2012Over the last few posts I have mentioned Project Life here and there and some of you may be wondering what in the world I am talking about OR some of you may know exactly what it is and even be seasoned "Project Lifer's". Whatever your familiarity is with Project Life, this post is all about the "nuts and bolts" of Project Life - what is is, how it works, how it will become a part of my life, etc. <br />
<br />
Project Life is a scrap booking concept that was created by Becky Higgins. It simplifies how you document and preserve memories. Direct from Becky's blog: "With this easier-than-ever scrapbooking system, simply pair your photos and journaling with pre-designed title cards and journaling cards. Your photos, these cards, and even your memorabilia slip into the Photo Pocket Pages and that's it. The result is a stylish masterpiece that represents your life or whatever occasion you choose to record. With Project Life's beautifully simple format, deciding what supplies to use or how to design layouts becomes obsolete, leaving you more time to experience life."<br />
<br />
Here is a video by Becky Higgins (direct from Becky's blog) that offers a great introduction to Project Life:<br />
<br />
<object height="360" width="640"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UHJ5pox_s2M&rel=0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UHJ5pox_s2M&rel=0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></embed></object><br />
<br />
There is a wealth of information on Becky Higgins site about this project. I can literally spend hours looking at her site. Here is a link to her site:<br />
<a href="http://beckyhiggins.com/" target="_blank">http://beckyhiggins.com/</a><br />
<br />
When I first read about this concept it immediately appealed to me. I used to be much more involved in my paper scrapping (before discovering digital) and I really miss my paper scrapping sometimes. I just like the idea of putting my hands on things and creating with them. I had also been working for a few months on being a better journaler and making sure I was recording our memories. All of the little details along with the big ones. I knew right away that this was exactly what I didn't know I was looking for! <br />
<br />
One of the awesome things too about Becky Higgins Project Life is that for 2012 she has introduced a digital version of the products! You can create your albums through Shutterfly where all you need to do is drag and drop your photos into their pre-designed pages. But, you still have the ability to make the album ALL YOU as the elements on the pages are able to be moved and rearranged. You also have the option to buy the digital kits and templates from Jessica Sprague for creating your album completely from scratch! You can find the digital information about Project Life here on Becky's blog:<br />
<a href="http://beckyhiggins.com/products/digital-project-life.php" target="_blank">http://beckyhiggins.com/products/digital-project-life.php</a><br />
<br />
I have decided to go with the paper version for the bulk of Project Live and here are the products that I have purchased from Becky Higgins to start documenting our lives:<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Of course, there will be LOTS of other great products that I add in along the way and I will be sure to keep you updated on what has been added to my stash. You can make Project Life as creative and original as you wish. It can be very simple or more involved and a bit more scrap heavy. That is one of the great things that I love about it. I will definitely be adding in lots of things along the way to make this project more "me". </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Next week I will have a post for you taking you through the set up of my "base" for my Project Life binder! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Until then - I am off to spend some time with the family. Alyssa is home for the holidays and this is her last visit before she leaves for her 4 year assignment in Hawaii in February so I am trying to suck up all the time I can with her. Who can blame me for that, right?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I also still have to wrap Laddy's presents, make his stocking and clean my house before my Mom and Dad come! LOL<br />
<br />
I was one elated girl a few weeks ago when I got an email from Erin of Secret Stash Designs to be a guest creative team member for her for the months of December and January. I had applied to her guest call but NEVER thought I had a shot at making the cut. So, getting that email totally made my day! Since then I have completed 3 layouts for her and I am telling you.....her kits literally scrap themselves. All of her elements are so fantastic and I literally tried to use every one on this most recent layout:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1503666&title=crazy-girl&cat=500" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/data/500/secret_sillynilly_web.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Silly Nilly Value Bundle by Secret Stash</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I also had the pleasure of working with a new collaboration by Studio Flergs and Litabells Designs. I just love everything that both of these awesome girls do and when they got together it was fireworks! Kay Miller also had a new set of her amazing Pieces of My Heart Templates coming out this week and I knew that they would be the perfect fit for this new collab. Check out the result:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1503665&title=cherish&cat=500" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/data/500/flergskay_lamour_web.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">L'amour by Studio Flergs and Litabells Designs</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Pieces of My Heart Templates 12 by Kay Miller</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Hope you all have a fantastic day! I will be back soon with my first Project Life post!!! Hugs!</div>NeeNeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09269290548661464299noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892532636832950780.post-83447630242943677002011-12-21T08:48:00.000-08:002011-12-21T08:50:35.555-08:00Journaling Your Life<div style="text-align: center;">How do you journal your life? I have to admit that I have never been very good at keeping track of the little moments in my life. Well, I don't know that I am even good at preserving the big moments either. As I have gotten older and I see my children and grandchildren growing right before my eyes, the idea of preserving every minute has become more and more important to me. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">In June I became a part of the Log Your Memory challenge team and it kicked me into high gear to start journaling my everyday. If you aren't familiar with Log Your Memory, it is a business that is dedicated to real life memory keeping. You can find more information about Log Your Memory and their great memory preserving products here:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://logyourmemory.com/start-here/" target="_blank">http://logyourmemory.com/start-here/</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.simplescrapper.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/IMG_4550-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://www.simplescrapper.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/IMG_4550-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">With the 2011 Memory Logbook, I started using the daily calendar to journal everyday. I knew that I was going to be starting a 2012 Project Life so I wanted to start journaling to get myself in the habit of doing it everyday. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">As much as I like the fact that I have been pretty diligent about keeping up with my journaling, I have actually found that I hate the time consuming part of hand writing all about my day. There are so many details that I want to remember but writing all of it out is just not something that I enjoy. I thought that being able to type my memories into the computer would actually be more suitable to my needs. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Introducing <a href="https://ohlife.com/" target="_blank">OhLife</a>! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://static.allmyapps.com/data/o/h/ohlife-personal-journal/WEB/ohlife.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://static.allmyapps.com/data/o/h/ohlife-personal-journal/WEB/ohlife.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I could not have been introduced to this at a better time. It was just the answer I needed when I needed it. <a href="https://ohlife.com/" target="_blank">OhLife</a> is an private online journal. It is super easy and FREE to sign up. Each day an email is sent to you (you can alter the settings so that you can receive the email reminder daily, weekly or not at all) to prompt you to journal. All you need to do is hit REPLY and start typing about your day. Hit SEND and it is saved to your OhLife journal online. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://laughingsquid.com/wp-content/uploads/ohlife-20100818-160314.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" src="http://laughingsquid.com/wp-content/uploads/ohlife-20100818-160314.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">You can go into your <a href="https://ohlife.com/" target="_blank">OhLife</a> account and edit any day you need to and you can even go back and journal past days. I am currently working on going back and adding my hand written journal entries to my <a href="https://ohlife.com/" target="_blank">OhLife </a>online journal. Then I can recycle all the paper I have used over the last few months. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Typing about my day online takes me nearly half the time that it did to hand write it all and I have now found that I am writing about so many little details that I was not before. I can then look at my daily entries and pick and choose which details about my day I want to use in my Project Life and whatever I choose not to focus on is still preserved in my online journal for the future.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">You can also export your journal entries so that they are backed up and saved or printed for more creative uses. You could print out your days and cut and paste certain parts into your Project Life. I know there are so many ways I am going to find over the course of the next year to utilize this resource.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">If you are interested in joining me and trying out <a href="http://ohlife.com/r/yyea5tf" target="_blank">OhLife</a>, just use this link (this is a special link that just gives me kudos for referring you - once you start using <a href="http://ohlife.com/r/yyea5tf" target="_blank">OhLife</a>, if you refer just one person you then get free photo uploads to attach a photo each day to your journal entry. I already have that but still like to refer through my special link.):</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://ohlife.com/r/yyea5tf" target="_blank">http://ohlife.com/r/yyea5tf</a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">If you decide to use <a href="http://ohlife.com/r/yyea5tf" target="_blank">OhLife</a>, I would love to hear what you think about it and for you to share your creative uses for it. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I will be back in a few days with my first "official" Project Life post! Woohoo!!!</div>NeeNeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09269290548661464299noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892532636832950780.post-44334490632216107262011-12-16T05:42:00.000-08:002011-12-16T05:42:33.219-08:00A Few Layouts<div style="text-align: center;">Wow, I have seriously been a bad blogger!!! I typically do not handle stories of "real life" pain and tragedy very well especially when it involves a child. However, something about Tyler's sweet little face made his story irresistible to me. Through tears, I sat and read Tyler's complete story and I was moved beyond belief by it. Being a Mother myself and even more so given the fact that I have a grandson whom is just 15 months old, my heart ached for Tyler and his family.<br />
<br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Little baby Tyler earned his angel wings on November 2, 2011 just after I read his story. Just a few days later, I received an email from a Mary informing me that she was also so moved by Tyler's story that she asked a designer she creates for if she would be willing to organize a charity collaboration to help Tyler's family with their financial needs. I felt it was fate. I knew that I wanted to find some way to help this family and contribute a part of me forever to Tyler. I immediately emailed both Mary and the designer, Miss Mis Designs, that I would indeed be participating in this generous, thoughtful endeavor. Misty (Miss Mis Designs) had an overwhelming response to this collaboration and it is my honor to share with you the result.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><strong><br />

Have you done one? I set out to do it two years ago in December 2009 with the best of intentions. I bought this album:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.crumblycottage.com/images/Tilda-plain-fabricalbum.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.crumblycottage.com/images/Tilda-plain-fabricalbum.jpg" /></a></div>I even started gathering the contents of it that I was going to use. I just never made it past the planning stage.<br />
<br />
For nearly two years it has all just sat in a pile in my studio. Well, I have gotten a wild hair again and I have promised myself and my family that I will do it this year! I have a really cute idea planned for my cover but, I don't want to spoil the fun so I won't be posting how it turned out until after it's done (and let's hope it's presentable! lol)<br />
<br />
In my album, I have plans for a few things already. A few years ago we did a fun family project a day with activities such as making homemade Wassail, making Chocolate Covered Cheesecake slices on a stick (they looked like Xmas trees!), making Pecan Tassies and much more!<br />
<br />
Here are a few layouts documenting our activities that year.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=875631&title=wassail&cat=500"><img border="0" src="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/data/5868/wassail_nejfox_warmwinter_w.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=876709&title=chilly-treat&cat=500"><img border="0" src="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/data/5868/starbux_treedsusan_winkiss_.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=869730&title=sweet-tooth&cat=500"><img border="0" src="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/data/5868/megan_cd_swttooth_web.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=892609&title=christmas-at-a-glance&cat=500"><img border="0" src="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/data/500/xmas09_ppress_once_web.jpg" /></a></div><br />
So, I plan to do that for all 31 days this December. I am still looking for good ideas for activities though so if you have some I would love to hear them. <br />
So far we have these planned:<br />
Chocolate Covered Cheesecake<br />
Watch Xmas movie as a family<br />
Play a board game together<br />
Pecan Tassies<br />
Homemade Sugar Cookies<br />
A trip to Starbucks<br />
Drive to see Xmas Lights<br />
Decorating the tree<br />
<br />
I also have planned for us to do a <a href="http://www.simplyvintagegirl.com/blog/index.php/2010/11/27/the-thankful-tree/">Gratitude Tree</a> that I found out about on Pinterest. I will have it ready for us on December 1st and each day we will each grab a pre-cut circle and write one thing or two or three that we are thankful for. In my album when the month is over, I will put all of our little thankful tidbits in a protective sleeve in the back.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.simplyvintagegirl.com/blog/index.php/2010/11/27/the-thankful-tree/"><img border="0" src="http://d30opm7hsgivgh.cloudfront.net/upload/383139495_1oKl12Kb_c.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here are a few specific products I am picking up as well.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I know there will be several more I will add to my supplies for making my album ultra special but, so far this is it. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I plan to photograph the process as much as possible and share my journey with you on my blog along the way. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I had a super busy week last week and then my wee Grandson and my daughter came and stayed with us for the weekend. When that happens, I always drop everything and focus my total attention on them. I only get to see them about every 6 weeks so it is imperative that I soak up every minute! ;)<br />
<br />

</div>I also wanted to share on here that I have started designing again. I had retired back in January of this year due to some major medical issues I had going on. However, I am all well now and itching to get back into creating templates so I can help scrap bookers preserve their memories. I promise not to advertise my design business on here much as this blog is really for the "personal" side of me. But, I had to give a shout out just to let you all know that I'm back at it! I am not selling at a store yet. I am just letting the chips fall where they may and see if something comes up. So, in the meantime I am just going to be creating some FREEBIES! I have one available today on my Facebook Fan Page HERE. All you have to do is LIKE my page.<br />

I had been in the closet about Pinterest until about 2 weeks ago. I had heard and read things about it around the net but really never wanted to go check it out because in all honesty.....the last thing I needed was a new addiction that keeps me from getting other more important stuff done. However, in a moment of weakness I clicked on someone's link to their Pinterest boards and within minutes I could feel myself getting sucked in. I love inspiration. Colors, beautiful places, recipes, home decor ideas and quotes, just to name a few. I really haven't pinned a whole lot since joining as I only check in every few days and only peruse for 30 minutes or so at a time. I am trying to be controlled about this so it doesn't get out of hand. ;)<br />
<br />
I have pinned several recipes that look and sound delicious! Since today was grocery shopping day, I picked out a few recipes for us to try this week. Well, I was so excited that I made them both tonight! LOL <br />
<br />
With this being my FIRST ever Pinterest projects, I knew I had to capture the memory and photograph my steps along the way. I don't promise that you won't do some drooling along the way. I apologize in advance for some of my photos, there is no window in my kitchen and I have dark counters, dark cabinets and black appliances so the photos can be a bit dark.<br />
<br />
First up is some Jalapeno Bacon Cream Cheese Poppers. Last night after seeing these on a friend's board, I knew I had to make them for us to try. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/337260896/"><img border="0" src="http://d30opm7hsgivgh.cloudfront.net/upload/337260896_YS8sOlJk_c.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You can find them on my Recipes Board <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/337260896/">HERE</a> where you can link to the original recipe by From The Aisle To Aloha.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You need the following ingredients:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">1 tube of Crescent Rolls (I used the regular size, not the BIG ones)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">2 fresh jalapenos</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">4 oz. block of cream cheese</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">1/2 pkg. of bacon</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers1.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">My way of making them yielded 12 poppers.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">In the original recipe it says to cut your bacon in small pieces for frying. Have you ever tried to slice bacon? Not easy to slice those slippery strips so I've always used a little trick for cutting my bacon....SCISSORS! I cut up half the package and then fried it up.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers2.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">While your bacon is frying, cut the stems off of your jalapenos and then cut them lengthwise. Remove the seeds and veins and then slice each half again lengthwise. Then cut them width wise to yield pieces about 1/2" to 3/4". </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers3.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next you can unroll your crescent rolls. Once unrolled, I broke them into sections so that just 2 triangles were attached. I then sliced them at an angle to yield 2 normal size pieces and 2 pieces that were smaller (the tips).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers4.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I then took those tips and pressed them together to make one piece. So every 2 triangles wound up yielding me 3 crescent bases. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers5.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers5.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Make sure to keep an eye on that bacon! I got so busy doing my rolls and jalapenos (okay, so I was taking pictures too!) that I got my bacon a little too crispy. Errr....burnt. :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here are all of my ingredients ready to start assembling the poppers.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers6.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers6.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I laid all of my crescent pieces out on my rectangular cookie sheet and then added a dollop (about 1/2 tbsp.) of cream cheese to each one. I then added about 3 or 4 chunks of cooked bacon and 2 to 3 pieces of jalapeno.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers7.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers7.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once they are all topped, bring each corner up to the top and give it a little pinch or twist. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers8.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers8.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Next just seal up the sides to keep your cream cheese yumminess from running out the sides when it heats up. Then pop them in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers9.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/poppers9.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I got a little distracted again this time shopping at Lauren Grier's $1 sale and let mine stay in the oven a bit too long. I never seem to make anything right when I try a recipe for the first time. Practice makes perfect!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">But, they were a big hit with the family! I will definitely be making them again!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After dinner, we got together as a family to quickly make these Candy Corn Kissed Pretzels. I knew these were going to be something we would all love and eat too much of. Combine that with how incredibly simple they are to make and you can't go wrong!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/294614014/"><img border="0" src="http://d30opm7hsgivgh.cloudfront.net/upload/294614014_Em2NK9Mo_c.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You can find these on my Recipes Board <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/294614014/">HERE</a> where you can link to the original recipe by Free Cake Info.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You will need the following ingredients:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Bag of Candy Corn</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Bag of Pretzels - I used Snyder's Snaps cuz I love the butteryness of them!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Bag of white chocolate/milk chocolate kisses</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Bag of almonds (optional)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/pretzels1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/pretzels1.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The original recipe calls for just candy corn's but my hubby suggested we try them with an almond on the top too. I thought it was a good idea so we tried ours half and half.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Preheat oven to 350 degrees.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Arrange your pretzels on a rectangular cookie sheet. I was able to fit 70 pretzel snacks comfortably on my cookie sheet. 10 rows of 7 in each row.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Unwrap your kisses and place one on top of each pretzel.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/pretzels2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/pretzels2.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Place in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes just so that your kisses get a little melted. They turn shiny when they are warm enough.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Remove your cookie sheet from the oven and place a candy corn or almond on the top middle of each kiss. Some of ours slid a little to the side but no worries, they all taste the same when you pop 'em in your mouth!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/pretzels3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/pretzels3.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I popped our tray in the freezer for about 5 minutes to harden them up a bit so we could try them right away, we were anxious! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/pretzels4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/pretzels4.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After the taste test, Hubby and I both agree that the almond topped ones were the best. We thought the kiss added just the right amount of sweetness and the candy corn made them a little sweeter than we like. However, they are still really good with the candy corn, we just probably can't eat as many at a time. Not that that is a bad thing, right? And....admittedly the candy corn ones are more festive!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It was such a fun night and it got my family involved which I am all for! We had some good laughs while prepping these recipes. Laughter and food go so well together!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Let me know if you decide to try either of these. I would love to know how they turned out and what you and your family thought of them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I am out of here for now. Ready to relax and take in some boob tube. Until next time, HUGS!</div>NeeNeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09269290548661464299noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892532636832950780.post-2905474626625093202011-10-16T05:51:00.000-07:002011-10-16T05:51:10.166-07:00Sunday's New Release FavesI have decided to try and do a weekly post on Sunday's featuring some amazing products that were released in the digi stores throughout the previous week. Everyone doing their own thing....Jonathan is hard at work on my poor wittle car. He drives it to work since it is better on gas mileage than his Tundra. However, on his way home Tuesday night, it died on the highway while he was driving home. A $55 tow fee later, it was home waiting for him to work on this weekend. He thinks it is the fuel pump but unfortunately, he has a day of troubleshooting ahead of him. Hopefully he gets it fixed though because I am going stir crazy cooped up in this house. I ran out of tea on Thursday and couldn't get any! Besides Chunky is really missing me driving her to school and I really need to get to the gym next week. I need the steam room! ;)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7B7YhrK4SK14oCOUcBu-xK2A70WFzvU-oszkELw_EgZTW78yXAnwwp_OM1dN5WdLfvwYa_ZqWL3T9ZeBHXjZ17tIablX_eB80QtwjxkcMFg0oBLR7hoqaMCCw5jGr3FRav2LfThMQfso/s1600/jonathan.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7B7YhrK4SK14oCOUcBu-xK2A70WFzvU-oszkELw_EgZTW78yXAnwwp_OM1dN5WdLfvwYa_ZqWL3T9ZeBHXjZ17tIablX_eB80QtwjxkcMFg0oBLR7hoqaMCCw5jGr3FRav2LfThMQfso/s1600/jonathan.png" /></a></div><br />
Chunky had her BFF Myra over last night and after going to bed at like 4 a.m., they are now up at 10:45 this morning and eating the breakfast tacos I got for them when I went out to get that tea I was out of from the grocery store. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaX3X0Nl5P8_-4JcCJ1IupYm63phfN08M4sce8NrJgK7rxEz4-msqCoxGLeGJGrz_feTiRI-kVsTk9JNKG2YP3Ow_PNNdRV_EKKpCVZy8xs6B81dcLiOtIIqCMSI2U72iNFWkmUUd860s/s1600/megan.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaX3X0Nl5P8_-4JcCJ1IupYm63phfN08M4sce8NrJgK7rxEz4-msqCoxGLeGJGrz_feTiRI-kVsTk9JNKG2YP3Ow_PNNdRV_EKKpCVZy8xs6B81dcLiOtIIqCMSI2U72iNFWkmUUd860s/s1600/megan.png" /></a></div><br />
I have the curtains open leading out the sliding door to our backyard and the Bassetts, Maggie and Buster, are pacing out on the patio hoping someone will come out to play. Actually, Maggie who is a HUGE titty baby is whining and crying a ridiculous amount today. She seems to know when her Daddy is home and thinks this is going to get his attention.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggECsIMCOdAi_t2UgNnyLpFhPfRWGYerOc99S-BdSYWhfzuipWdzcoP2qwHKCnV7gPmHqAgSJux8aSXt7JxTePZQmp95RqB1fRVaWsGGbbeOvHic2QqIMpRXuR5AcJymPx0YbQq1JH_qc/s1600/bustermaggie.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggECsIMCOdAi_t2UgNnyLpFhPfRWGYerOc99S-BdSYWhfzuipWdzcoP2qwHKCnV7gPmHqAgSJux8aSXt7JxTePZQmp95RqB1fRVaWsGGbbeOvHic2QqIMpRXuR5AcJymPx0YbQq1JH_qc/s1600/bustermaggie.png" /></a></div><br />
And me? Well, I just finished making this scrumptious looking Layered Pumpkin Cake!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBdbrNHD-_eGoM7OjAo91u2sX_cHBJjoyHGIMhyphenhyphenNzU11cza-QcRIehmnmAJ6O6FuuhAygsRo3btMdyHbVIV_554_DSx23L5uz33KYzULafUFKWIZ33ZEEHM5h_imZXicyBl48Ji633FoA/s1600/cake.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBdbrNHD-_eGoM7OjAo91u2sX_cHBJjoyHGIMhyphenhyphenNzU11cza-QcRIehmnmAJ6O6FuuhAygsRo3btMdyHbVIV_554_DSx23L5uz33KYzULafUFKWIZ33ZEEHM5h_imZXicyBl48Ji633FoA/s1600/cake.png" /></a></div><br />
And now I am about to start working on organizing my digi stash supplies that I have downloaded over the last week. Some of them have been scrapped with and some of them were things I bought or freebies I found (more on this below) for using later. I have a total of about 100 files to organize! Ugh....how does this happen so fast? <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPhnHTy4cJBBycYbQC-iZBX04JzmGZl3c3PYt6JPb1TZQXS9qDqzVG9dPBAVINCyYTglbin0rxAIR_AOLBmNW2ShcApxLphZMNoTQjFA3UdfgVpxQ3IFixcU7mFltdQlwTvZYKvNTKSEE/s1600/screenshot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPhnHTy4cJBBycYbQC-iZBX04JzmGZl3c3PYt6JPb1TZQXS9qDqzVG9dPBAVINCyYTglbin0rxAIR_AOLBmNW2ShcApxLphZMNoTQjFA3UdfgVpxQ3IFixcU7mFltdQlwTvZYKvNTKSEE/s1600/screenshot.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I didn't get a chance to do any more layouts this week as I spent most of my day yesterday redesigning my blog. What do you think? Pwetty, isn't it? I absolutely LOVE it! It suits my personality perfectly. I think it's my fave blog I have ever had. And it was SO EASY to do. No idea why I haven't done it sooner. I hope you all like it too!<br />
<br />

I swear she creates some of the most beautiful layouts! Here are a few that she has done that have left me with my jaw open.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The colors in this are simply amazing, so fresh and fun. And I love all the bits and bobs she put together from various designers to create this.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1457309&title=qoh-mmps2-copy&cat=500"><img border="0" src="http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/data/500/qoh-mmps2-copy.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This photo.....seriously? I mean how fantastic is it? And I LOVE the blended text stamp on the left lower side. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Look at all of the attention to detail in this one! I mean all of the tiny scattered elements are just phenomenal!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=134281&title=tinci-octobersteps1-2-copy&cat=500"><img border="0" src="http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/data/500/Tinci_Octobersteps1_2-copy.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Well friends, that digi stash is calling my name so I better get to it. I won't feel like I can start creating layouts again until I get all of that organized and I already see some great things in the works from my designers next week! I will be back in a few days with more gibberish ;)! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Have a great weekend! Hugs!</div>NeeNeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09269290548661464299noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892532636832950780.post-54935295194685561382011-10-13T17:44:00.000-07:002011-10-13T17:53:49.922-07:00Around Digi LandOne of my goals for my blog is to share some of the great things I find around the digital scrapbook community that I think are great finds, news and all around cool. I really do love being a part of the communities, have made so many great friends and want to support some of these great people. I also want to help share and spread the knowledge about digital scrapbooking. Hopefully, some of you who visit my blog may find some of my posts useful and the thought of that makes me warm and fuzzy inside. ;)<br />
<br />
So, here are some nifty things that I have spotted in some of the communities this week so far.....<br />
<br />
Sweet Shoppe has a thread going about creating awesome titles. You can find the post <a href="http://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57806">HERE</a> if you fancy reading through it. Or, here are the links I have grabbed from the thread that will help me when I am working on my next page to create that perfect title. <br />

Thank you to Tracyfish, Kjersti and MommaTrish for these links!<br />
<br />
I am admittedly a HUGE fan of <a href="http://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/sweetshoppe/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=25">Zoe Pearn's</a>. Maybe even a bit stalkerish at times but not in a creepy way. ;) I absolutely love her style and have begged her a few times for a spot on her team even. No luck yet but, I still continue to keep the dream alive. Well, she just happens to be one of the sponsors this month at <a href="http://thedailydigi.com/">The Daily Digi</a> (a big fan of this site - wealth of scrapbooking information!). You can check out her adorable kit and awesome interview <a href="http://thedailydigi.com/zoe-pearn-doing-something-i-love-so-much/">HERE</a>.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Not to mention that my blog is one of her Blog In A Box products! You can find those <a href="http://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/sweetshoppe/home.php?cat=271">HERE</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I also love her other flash card sets, <a href="http://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/sweetshoppe/product.php?productid=19797&cat=0&page=1">Alphabet Soup for Girls</a> and <a href="http://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/sweetshoppe/product.php?productid=19796&cat=0&page=1">Alphabet Soup for Boys</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Do you know about Chelle's Creations? She is an amazing designer who I have known for years but, just in the last year or so she has really become one of my fave designers. I am a huge fan of the felt elements in her kits. Well, she just happens to be having a CT Call right now! Yep, that's right! Don't waste a minute, take a chance and get that application in today! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.chelles-creations.com/2011/chelle-ct-call/"><img border="0" src="http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/zz231/Chelles_Creations/Weekly%20Ads/fall-CT-call.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">How about <a href="http://www.the-lilypad.com/store/">The Lilypad</a>? Are you familiar with it? There are so many amazing designers there. Well, you can actually WIN a guest spot on their CT by participating in their challenges. They have this drawing every month! It is super hard to get a gig on their CT so this is an amazing chance to play with some of the best digital designers out there and a wonderful community. You also get an awesome 30% off coupon for completing all of their challenges. You can't go wrong! You can check out the details on the challenge <a href="http://www.the-lilypad.com/forums/showthread.php?13494-Challenge-Guidelines">HERE</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And last but not least, <a href="http://sweetshoppedesigns.com/sweetshoppe/manufacturers.php?manufacturerid=7">Darcy Baldwin</a> announced a teaser of her upcoming So You Think You Can Font 3 contest!<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;"> </span> She holds this contest each year. She allows you to submit a font or two and then she chooses several from all the entries that she will sell in her shop along with some other fun prizes. I haven't played along yet but, I think I will this year! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57821"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgD_8p7uotIKzDRhBOIHBuIIzuAg9SzWPIqavF4XgxDeQt9vzmiHnFhbEiVrfTZtvrJtPhs2G9MchOSquySVfT-B71jBWn0yUgJUrd9dVwt42VAUj915XlvO09VBqsh1ABf-LQmA9r37XrI/s320/dbaldwin-sytycf3-comingsoon.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I know there is lots more fun going on out in the digi communities but, this is about all I can share with you today because after all, I need to pimp some of the amazing designers that are generous enough to let me play on their teams. So, onto my layouts (so far) for this week.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I really intended to update my 30 Day Photo Challenge today and do some work on my digi supply organization project but I woke up with a migraine this morning and it has not let up all day. So, I will save those updates and work for tomorrow. I hope! Either way, I will at least be back on Saturday with a few more new layouts from my wonderful girls over at Sweet Shoppe Designs that I CT for. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Until then - have a great rest of the week. I have missed her so much and really I didn't realize just how much until she got here! All of her little antics and expressions, her laugh, her smell, everything about her beautiful little self. We did a whole lot of nothing, just hung out and watched movies. I cooked her lots of her fave meals and bought her fave snacks. It was just like old times. My birthday was in September and she brought me my gift. I started collecting Willow Tree figurines 10 years ago and I haven't had a new one given to me in about 5 years and she was thoughtful enough to get me one! She said it represents John Isaac! It made me cry! Here it is:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/mybday2011.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/mybday2011.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;">She is in the best shape of her life. She is so muscular it's crazy. I couldn't stop looking at her. She is back in her running shape and currently running a 7:30 mile! She comes in first place when they run at all her PT practices. She is also 2nd in her class at Tech School! I can't believe how well she is doing.<br />
<br />
She got her 1st duty station orders too. She is going to Hickam Base in Hawaii. We were planning a vacation to The Bahamas in June as a family but now we are going to Hawaii instead. She finishes Tech School in February. She is soooo excited about her station. We are excited for her too. Jonathan grew up in Hawaii and still has sisters there also.<br />
<br />
Of course I cried when she left. Saying goodbye is so hard to do. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; font-family: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"><br />

He now relaxes in my bedroom on an antique chair that belonged to my Grandmother alongside Jonathan's childhood stuffed animal, a Curious George that he rescued from a drainage ditch when he was just a little tot as well. Priceless memories.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I haven't had any time really to work on my digi organization since my last post. I did however spend Friday night organizing my photos. They are a total mess as well. I have now moved them over to Year folders. I just need to organize them within those folders into Months. A little at a time.....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have completed 3 layouts so far this week and I will have those to show you on Thursday. So I will see you then! Until then, have a great week! Hugs!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

It is an awesome Friday for me because I got the best news this morning when I woke up. Jonathan told me that our oldest daughter had called at about 5:30 this morning (he is always up that early to go to work so she knew she would catch him) and told him that she will be here tomorrow! I haven't seen her since she left for Air Force Tech School on July 24th! Two and a half months without seeing my baby girl is WAY too long! She made her menu requests too, ha ha. We always love our Mom's cooking, don't we? She will be leaving on Monday morning so I plan to spend the entire weekend just doting on her and relaxing so I won't be around again until early next week. <br />
<br />
But, before I sign off for the weekend here are some layouts I did this week:<br />

I was a bit hesitant to do it because I am horrible with follow through on these type of challenges. I have started P52 two years in a row and fizzled out after just a few weeks! However, I thought if I could do this 30 day challenge and actually stick to it, maybe it would be good practice to get ready for next year's P52. You know, start creating a habit.....? <br />
<br />
Here is the list we are using:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57305"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCFSlh_v4KIss5i0ZB3s28DIjESvZwnO_-Akc9YkSnc9IjrNAvvdFQML4fZbwJnD0utMoRxeUAcYQut2fXvssHZbAAsKQjIJHG-5BpItgPU9pre6JswRoUEYuhIZp51qP9_oG_VDIr7gk/s1600/40712969_nNi3ffkI_c.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I am super duper excited to do this! My plan is to take all of my pictures from the month and make a 2 page layout documenting the full month. Plus, this will really help with photography skills and get me thinking more creatively! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">If you would like to join in the fun, you can click the image above or click <a href="http://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57305">HERE</a> to go to the posting at Sweet Shoppe Designs.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now, let's start seeing some of these fun pictures! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">DAY 4 - SOMETHING GREEN</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/P52/Day4_somethinggreen.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/P52/Day4_somethinggreen.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">DAY 3 - CLOUDS</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/P52/Day3_clouds.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/P52/Day3_clouds.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">DAY 2 - WHAT YOU WORE</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/P52/Day2_whatyouwore.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/P52/Day2_whatyouwore.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">DAY 1 - SELF PORTRAIT</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/P52/Day1_selfportrait.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f288/quiltermommy/P52/Day1_selfportrait.png" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I am still whittling away at my EHD cleanup challenge. I have condensed my WORD ART and DATE TAGS folders to the new system! Those two were easiest of my choices to move over. I am working from the easiest up to the hardest, in terms of the time involved in making the switch. I have over 500gb of goodies to work through so this is quite a chore! I hope the completion date I set for the end of October was not being too optimistic on my part. ;) </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">These are the folders I have set up in the new system (so far - will add more as need arises):</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">KITS</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">PAPER PACKS</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">ELEMENTS</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">ALPHAS - done</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">DATE TAGS - done</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">TEMPLATES</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">WORD ART - done</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">FONTS</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">HYBRID</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I haven't had time to get any layouts done yet from my Unused Kits folder. I did 4 CT layouts for some of my designer's new releases so, that has kept me busy. Those will be posted tomorrow so be sure to come back and see what I've been up to. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Have a great day! Hugs! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div>NeeNeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09269290548661464299noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1892532636832950780.post-75004806499838062002011-10-04T17:08:00.000-07:002011-10-04T17:08:52.113-07:00Getting OrganizedI have a confession, I am not the most organized digital scrapbooker. My files are a big mess. I have stuff stashed in random places and folders all over my EHD. I have the original spot where I started putting things back when I started digital scrapping in 2008. Then in early 2010 I decided I needed to restructure and get more organized so I started a new system, swearing I was going to go back and bring those older files into the new system. Finally, back in April of this year I started yet another new system! So that brings me up to the current mess - 3 separate areas using 3 different systems of organization. What a mess, right? I have the hardest time finding anything I am looking for and I am really tired of not being able to mix and match bits from different kits, etc. on my layouts. <br />
<br />
So today I buckled down and said enough is enough! I started with something simple, my ALPHAS. I took the alphas from the two old locations, purged and cleaned up the folders and put them in their new, highly organized home. I spent 5 hours working on this today! I have to admit though that it feels really good! So good that I have decided that I am going to get all of my supplies organized once and for all. <br />
My plan is to spend a few hours a day working on it and hopefully have the project complete by the end of October. <br />
<br />
While perusing my digi files I also discovered that I have 75, yes 75 kits that are unused. By the way, that is just kits I have acquired since April of this year! When I get all of my older files organized that number is bound to triple. So, I have also decided that I want to get current on my layouts and use up those kits. My goal is to get these 75 kits used by the end of the year. I'd love to be more aggressive but, these layouts will have to be done in addition to my creative team responsibilities so I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. <br />
<br />
I plan to drop in and update my blog with my progress on both of these tasks. Maybe you too need to give your files some attention and get yourself more organized. If so, join me! <br />
<br />
Before I sign off (my eyes are going wonky from staring at this computer all day) I want to post a few layouts I have done recently.<br />

<br />
I have a somewhat busy day planned so that I can prepare for a quick weekend trip to see my parents and pick up my beloved Bassett Hounds, Maggie and Buster that have been living with my parents for the last 3 1/2 years. When we moved from our 1/2 acre home to a home with a much, much smaller yard, we felt it best that they have my parents 5 acre home to explore. However, they are now 11 and 9 years old and we just can't bear the thought of them growing old without being with us. So, they are coming "home"! Although our yard is small, they don't run around much these days and they will get lots more attention here. The whole family is excited to be bringing them back home to us. I am sure you will see some of their adorable droppy eared sad faced pictures in months to come! ;)<br />
<br />
So for today, here's what's on the menu:<br />
<br />
Clean glass and mirrors - done!<br />
Restock toilet paper - done!<br />
Hand wash a ton of dishes (UGH) - done!<br />
Take out recycle - done!<br />
Prep coffee - done!<br />
Layout for SO<br />
Make bed - done!<br />
Water plants - done!<br />
Clean microwave - done!<br />
Call in scrips - done!<br />
Call orthodontist - done!<br />
<br />
And by Monday afternoon/evening:<br />
<br />
Pick up Bassetts<br />
Layout for Thaty<br />
Put border strips around Laddy's quilt blocks<br />
Gym - Sat and Sun<br />
Refill salt and pepper shakers - done!<br />
Bathe Bassetts<br />
Court (don't ask.....UGH)<br />
<br />
Well, I think that is about it for today. I am trying to keep my schedule light because I haven't been feeling so well. Been a bit sad :( and my mean old friend Fibro is hanging around more than I would like. And you know.....Hmmm....I don't think I have done any layouts since my last post so I don't have anything to show you today. But, I will have a couple soon! <br />
<br />
Until next time, Hugs!<br />
<br />

I really started this blog out with the best of intentions to at least blog a few times a week and reflect on my life, thoughts and inspire others with my creativity. However, I have neglected to do that over the last two weeks! In my defense however, I was super busy with that little graduation (ha!) and then I have had some major issues with my Fibro acting up so I have a couple good excuses....right?<br />
<br />
So anywho....let's get to it! First of all, I just have to share that my adorable daughter wound up graduating from BMT as an Honor Grad. This was HUGE! Out of 683 graduates that weekend, she was in the top 10%! This will help her in her military career from this day forward. She really started off with a bang and I couldn't be more proud of her. Here are just a few photos to highlight what our weekend with her was like:<br />

You see, my oldest daughter, Alyssa graduates in just 2 days from the United States Air Force Basic Military Training program. After 8 1/2 long weeks I get to hold her in my arms again, kiss her face and tell her how much I love and am proud of her. I have been watching a few videos of what her celebrations and graduation will be like and I cry like a baby. Just the anticipation I believe. She has an Airman's Run on Thursday morning where the flights run 2 1/2 miles in formation and we (families of the Airmen) stand on the sidelines and cheer them on, see our babies for the first time and even hold up HUGE banners like this one here that we had made for her. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwdh7Pa3g_fbSGMuygtuzhVhNxSHefuhKBHUMwjCWUgGfMsFU8_vhhi-VHnJod1Be_IZ2WJobyFPkJxfy4GTgwdlvEfUxQB2J0UCQ6NcFRFYasbnUB2tJ_VAIHzcIVBAON1dTu8WUmqGw/s1600/lyssa%2527s+banner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwdh7Pa3g_fbSGMuygtuzhVhNxSHefuhKBHUMwjCWUgGfMsFU8_vhhi-VHnJod1Be_IZ2WJobyFPkJxfy4GTgwdlvEfUxQB2J0UCQ6NcFRFYasbnUB2tJ_VAIHzcIVBAON1dTu8WUmqGw/s400/lyssa%2527s+banner.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Then we head off to a coin ceremony which is a HUGE moment in an Airman's career where they reaffirm their oath to serve their country and receive a coin commererating their completion of this first step in their military career. After this event ends, all of the graduating Airmen stand at attention until someone from their family comes and "taps them out". Which just means they receive their first hug, kiss or even just a pat on the back from their loved ones. Man how I can't wait for that moment! After the completion of the coin ceremony, we will have a picnic lunch (Mom - my Mom that is, is making chicken salad, yum!) and then we check into a base hotel at 2 p.m. We decided to stay on base because that day they are only allowed base liberty (meaning they can't leave base ) and so that we could get out of the heat and so Alyssa could have a place to relax for 5 1/2 hours before having to be back in her dorm. Plus, it will make it much easier on us when we have to be back on base anyway the following morning at 8 a.m. for the actual graduation ceremony.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Friday is her actual graduation ceremony, which is actually a parade of Airmen marching. I am not quite sure yet which of these events I will feel the most pride or if they will be equal in significance for me. I just know that I am going to be one proud Mommy and am so wired I can't sleep. Thus, up at 2 a.m. blogging to anyone who might be reading. After her ceremony, we are leaving base and taking her out for a steak dinner (her request) and then coming home so she can relax a few hours before having to return to base for the night.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Saturday she gets to leave the base again and after we pick her up at 9 a.m. she will come home with us for a short while before going out to lunch with her real father and that side of her family. Then most likely she will once again be here for some relaxation before we take her back to base again for the night.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Sunday she only has base liberty once again so it's going to be a long, hot day in Texas with over 100 degree temperatures. We will be there from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. because I don't want to miss a moment with her. After that day, when I say goodbye at 6 p.m., she will once again leave us for a 3 to 5 month stay in Tech School. From there, she gets her duty station and that is the scariest part of this whole career move for me. Where will my baby end up and will that mean I don't get to see her very often over the next 6 years of her life. Tech School location is great. In San Angelo only 2 1/2 hours away so I will go see her at least 3 times during her visit there. Woohoo!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here is my baby before she left, getting sworn in for the first time, vowing to serve our great country.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie6iSJlW7_Yx2IThw36LO7cTfg40IzBWW5FJjZUEBqdaSnq_qsD70gXZ6d1tjCH7z3owATtk-h0_kPx7oFhfoqQ4hPSfIEzhAWMBFjlce6mLr81p3LWxugQLr9ais7v3NVjEUTqjVPiDs/s1600/20110524_2049.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie6iSJlW7_Yx2IThw36LO7cTfg40IzBWW5FJjZUEBqdaSnq_qsD70gXZ6d1tjCH7z3owATtk-h0_kPx7oFhfoqQ4hPSfIEzhAWMBFjlce6mLr81p3LWxugQLr9ais7v3NVjEUTqjVPiDs/s640/20110524_2049.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">She told me the other day that she has gained 8 lbs. over the last 8 weeks ( no doubt it is solid muscle) and for the first time in her life she weighs over 100 lbs. LOL</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Anywho, I have a ton to get done before my family gets here and better get started. I just wanted to capture these thoughts and memories before the moment passed me.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I will leave you with a few layouts I have done recently because well, I am a scrapbooker......right? I started running back in April of this year with the Couch to 5K program. The last 5K I did was with my USAF Airman daughter in February of this year with a 52 minute walk time. I ran today's race in 36:54 (11:54 pace) and took 5th place in my age group. I have Fibromyalgia which prevents me from running to train some days when mentally I really want to. I have arthritis in my right knee. I spent nearly two years sitting on the couch letting myself be run by my ailments. However, in spite of these ailments that I could let hold me back, I said no more will I be a victim and I push myself to give my very best on the days I can. I have a long way to reach my goals but today I hit a major milestone.</span></div><div style="line-height: 16px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br style="line-height: 16px;" /></span></div><div style="line-height: 16px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">I ran this race for one reason.....it was held at Lackland Air Force Base where my oldest daughter is currently doing her Basic Military Training. She graduates in 5 days. I did it on the slight chance that out of 600 Airmen, I *might* get a glimpse of her. I walked 3 times on my last mile so I could let some female flights (they ran in formation) catch up to me in hopes I would see her that way. Once the race was done, my husband (who ran the 5K also) and I found her. We sat in bleachers far enough away that we weren't obvious but close enough that we could see her and she could see us. She was sitting with her back to us about 500 yards away on the pavement below but glanced back several times to smile at us. After not seeing her for 8 long weeks, she was beautiful and looked very healthy. I was so proud of her, just seeing her in that environment.</span></div><div style="line-height: 16px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br style="line-height: 16px;" /></span></div><div style="line-height: 16px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">I never in a million years expected to win an award so I was pretty far from the awards table. When my name was called, I got up and ran to the awards table, retrieved my trophy and walked quickly back to the bleachers. There in front of me still sitting on the pavement was my baby girl, wiping the tears from her face and getting pats on the back from her fellow flight members. All the while, trying to hide it from her TI's. But, in that moment....I had made my daughter proud of me and that made this achievement more wonderful than just winning the trophy itself. You see, while she has been gone....I have worked really hard and when I thought I couldn't push any harder or give any more, I think of her and what she is going through and it drives me to give everything I have in me every time I workout. She is a runner, a cross country runner at that and I really wanted to be a runner, like her. I did it in 58 minutes for a pace of 11:53, which I am VERY proud of because I ran it straight, no walking, great breathing and pace control. Just got tired legs but, that is why I do strength training with weights and continue running - to build those leg muscles. Gotta build that endurance! <br />
<br />
However, I figured I would pay for it later and low and behold.....I surely did. And it was FIERCE! I was hurting so bad from my Fibro that I was in tears. I took a muscle relaxer (which doesn't help my pain) and it relaxed me to a point that I was loopy enough to not pay so much attention to the pain and lost the frustration of it. When I do take those pills, I am not able to function normally though so my speech was slurred, balance was off, etc. I fell asleep on the couch and when I woke up to go to my bed, I took a route that I wouldn't normally take and well.....ran nose first into the wall. I am so glad that I didn't wake up with 2 black eyes this morning. <br />
<br />
Today I am feeling great and moving around the house like "a chicken with it's head cut off" (as my Grandmother would always say) trying to get ready for our MC weekend Anniversary Party. Someday I will tell you about our MC. All in due time, I have so much about myself and the happenings in my life that this would be a novel if I shared it all in one post. <br />
<br />
So, I have another busy day ahead of me and NO.....I won't be running today although, it is VERY HARD for me to not do it. You see, I am addicted to running. I have run 5 days in a row and it physically hurts me not to run. But, I am bringing my gear with me just in case I find a nice place to run at our resort! LOL<br />
<br />
Before I get to my Agenda, I just have to share my layouts for today!<br />
